China Turbine Flowmeters Manufacturers Common Problems and Solutions in Installation and Operation

During the installation and operation of turbine flowmeters, there are many easily overlooked detailed issues. These details directly determine the measurement accuracy and operational stability of the equipment. Most potential hazards cannot be intuitively detected during daily use, and long-term negligence can lead to problems such as measurement deviations and equipment failures. To address this, duweyintelli Manufacturer engineers have compiled high-frequency error-prone details in the installation, selection, and use of turbine flowmeters for everyone to standardize operations and avoid failures.

Pipeline Piping Requirements

The inner diameters of the upstream and downstream pipelines at the installation location of the turbine flowmeter shall be consistent with the inner diameter of the flowmeter body to avoid flow field disturbances caused by inconsistent pipe diameters, which may affect the accuracy of flow measurement.

Installation of straight pipe sections and installation accuracy requirements

The flowmeter shall be horizontally installed on the pipeline, and the pipeline’s inclination angle shall be controlled within 5°. During installation, it is necessary to ensure that the axis of the flowmeter is concentric with the pipeline axis, the flow direction of the medium is consistent with the marked flow direction on the flowmeter, and installation deviations are eliminated.

At the same time, it is necessary to strictly comply with the installation specifications for straight pipe sections: an equal-diameter straight pipe section with a length of no less than 2D must be reserved upstream of the flowmeter; if on-site installation conditions permit, it is recommended to reserve a 20D straight pipe section upstream and a 5D straight pipe section downstream to maximize the stability of the medium flow field.

Installation Requirements for Bypass Pipeline and Valve

To ensure the normal and uninterrupted transportation of the medium during the inspection and maintenance of the flowmeter, it is necessary to install shut-off valves on the pipelines before and after the flowmeter, and to provide a bypass pipeline.

Flow control valves are uniformly installed downstream of the flowmeter. During normal operation of the equipment, the shut-off valve upstream of the flowmeter must remain fully open to avoid throttling in the upstream pipeline, which may cause unstable flow fields and lead to inaccurate measurement data.

External environment and medium filtration requirements

Environment Installation Requirements

Duweyintelli turbine flow meters are preferably installed indoors; if installation outdoors is necessary due to site conditions, appropriate sun protection, rain protection, and lightning protection measures must be taken to prevent external environmental erosion of the equipment and shorten its service life.

Media Filtration Requirements

If the transported medium contains impurities or particulate matter, a filter must be installed at the front end of the straight pipe section upstream of the flowmeter to filter out impurities in the medium, protect the core components such as the impeller and bearings of the flowmeter, and extend the service life of the equipment.

Equipment Selection and On-site Operation Specifications

Selection Specification

The equipment shall be properly selected according to the actual operating condition flow to ensure that the operating flow of the equipment is within the rated standard flow range. Over-speed operation of the equipment is strictly prohibited to ensure that the measurement accuracy meets the standard and, at the same time, extend the service life of the equipment.

Operating Procedures Specification

During the normal operation of the flowmeter, it is strictly prohibited to privately open the front and rear end covers of the device or change internal parameters. Violation of this rule will directly damage the operating parameters of the device, leading to abnormal operation and inaccurate measurement.

During equipment installation, it is necessary to properly place the sealing gasket to ensure that the gasket has no protrusions or offsets, and prevent the gasket from protruding into the pipeline to interfere with the medium flow and affect flow measurement.

During equipment calibration operations, pressure data must be strictly collected at the dedicated pressure tapping port of the flowmeter to ensure the accuracy and effectiveness of calibration data.
